school graduations
Carmichaels – will send when nailed down.
On June 5, 2020, 85 (41 females, 44 males) Carmichaels Area seniors will begin their new endeavors as they graduate high school. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m., and will take place on the football field. To adhere to current safety guidelines, students and their guests will remain inside their vehicles at all times unless speaking or receiving their diploma. Vehicles must be standard, no motorhomes or large vehicles that could block the views of others will be permitted. Each senior will be permitted two (2) vehicles, one with themselves and their immediate family, and one additional vehicle. There will be live streaming of the event for anyone to watch from home. Gates for the event will open at 7:45 p.m. Live streaming will be posted on Facebook and the school’s website at www.carmarea.org.
The Class Valedictorian and Class Salutatorian will be decided once final grades are calculated. The Class President, Cole Alexander Newland, will address the class and call roll.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Damian Ferek, owner and founder of the Stick Company. Damien is a 2001 Carmichaels Area alumnus.
Trinity – Thanks for thinking of us at Trinity High School. A High School student’s Graduation Ceremony is a great accomplishment and great day of celebration for families. We are going to have a ceremony that allows families to drive onto the campus and allow students to have a graduation experience where they are able to walk on campus and receive their diploma and receive photos from professional photographers. Also, the school is planning on having a ceremony in July to celebrate our Senior students where students are hopefully able to come together and celebrate their graduation and accomplishments with friends and family. We also have planned on moving our prom to July. However, this will also depend on the status of Washington County and the phase of reopening we are operating. What has made this year so difficult is obviously making sure the school district is in compliance with the current and specific social distancing requirements, along with the limiting of large crowds that have been established by the Governor and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. We are offering a graduation on campus on the scheduled graduation day of June 12, but we are also going to offer a ceremony in July and hopefully that is a more traditional ceremony. I can tell you, I am not happy about the alternate plan of graduation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but students at Trinity High School will get to graduate on their campus.
California –
My name is Leigh Ann Folmar. I am the high school principal at California Area High School. Currently we are looking at a few options as far as “the look” of our graduation ceremony; however, as a courtesy to our school board I would like to review the plan with them before we go public. This conversation will take place on the evening of May 13th. So we will be able to provide details on the morning of May 14th. I hope this doesn’t delay your article. And I am sure you would certainly understand why I would prefer to notify our school board with this news first rather than them reading it in the paper – LOL! I’m sure you get it!
Thank you for your patience and if you could reach out to me on May 14th, I would gladly prepare something for your review.
JEfferson Morgan –
Mr.Orr forwarded your email to me about our graduation plans . Please let me know when you would like to talk to me so that I can give you details on our plans for graduation.
Thank you
