1968 — Dave Hart resigns as Pitt’s football coach after three seasons that produced a 3-27 record.
1978 — Don Slappy scores 22 points and California State routs La Roche 83-49 in the Vulcans’ first game under head coach Eddie McCluskey.
1979 — Matt Bahr’s 37-yard field goal with 13 seconds left in overtime gives the Pittsburgh Steelers a 13-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns at Three Rivers Stadium.
1985 – Foge Fazio is fired as head football coach after four seasons at Pitt. His record was 25-18-3.
1990 – Ringgold’s Brian Miller is named the Offensive Player of the Year and Washington’s Mike Edwards and Marin Merriweather are the co-Defensive Players of the Year on the Observer-Reporter All-District Football Team.
1996 – Johnny Majors resigns as Pitt’s football coach after being unable to revive for the second time the program he led to the national championship in 1976.
