Beth-Center used three pins and three forfeits to tale a 39-24 victory from Bentworth in a Section 1-AA match.

Tyler Fisher (126), Kyle McCollum (138) and Tyler Debner (145) each won by fall for BC (2-0, 3-0).

Max Ivcic (106), Chris Vargo (120), and Vitali Daniels (Hvy) had pins for Bentworth (0-1, 0-2).

Pitt suspends Hughley after charges

Pitt suspended men’s basketball forward John Hugley indefinitely for disciplinary reasons Friday after the freshman was charged with three felonies stemming from an incident last summer.

Hugley, who is from Cleveland, Ohio, is facing two counts of felony criminal conspiracy and one felony count of receiving stolen property, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday.

A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 18.

The complaint alleges Hugley was one of two men who entered a car without permission in the early hours of July 19 while the person responsible for the vehicle was sleeping. The car was reported stolen later in the day before being recovered on Aug. 4.

Hugley has appeared in seven games for the Panthers and is averaging 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He missed one game because of COVID-19 protocols.

Dukes lose A-10 game

Kyle Lofton had 28 points as Saint Bonaventure topped Duquesne 62-48 Friday night.

Lofton made 12 of 14 from the free-throw line.

Alejandro Vasquez had 11 points for Saint Bonaventure (4-1 Atlantic 10, 6-1), which won its fourth straight game. Jaren Holmes had 11 points.

Michael Hughes had 14 points for the Dukes (2-4, 3-5). Marcus Weathers added 12 points.

In the NFL

The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith on Friday to become the team’s head coach.

Smith held a virtual interview with the team on Monday and he also interviewed with the New York Jets and Detroit Lions. The Jets reached an agreement with Robert Saleh late Thursday night to be their coach.

The 38-year-old Smith has served on the Tennessee staff for 10 seasons, including two as offensive coordinator. The Titans finished this season tied for second in the NFL in total yards.

Under Smith’s leadership, the Titans finished behind only Kansas City in total offense with 396.4 yards. They had the NFL’s second-best rushing offense as Derrick Henry became only the eighth back to rush for at least 2,000 yards.

In the NHL

Vitek Vanecek made 28 saves in his NHL debut, Tom Wilson had a goal and an assist and the Washington Capitals beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 Friday night to sweep the season-opening series.

n Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat had a goal and an assist each, and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2.

n Brady Tkachuk had a goal and two assists, Matt Murray made 20 saves in his Ottawa debut and the Senators beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 on Friday night in their first game in more than 10 months.

Thomas Chabot, Austin Watson, Derek Stepan and Chris Tierney also scored for Ottawa. Josh Norris, with his first NHL points, Drake Batherson and Nikita Zaitsev added two assists each in the opener of a two-day set in Ottawa.
