1949 – Cincinnati left fielder Eddie Lukon of Burgettstown hits two home runs and drives in five runs as the Reds defeat the Chicago Cubs 6-2 at Wrigley Field.

1959 – At Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field, Los Angeles’ Don Drysdale pitches three perfect innings and Eddie Matthews homers as the National League edges the American League 5-4 in the first of two all-star games played that year.

1981 – Defensive end Keith Gary, the Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft pick, signs a two-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

1982 – The Pittsburgh Steelers lose assistant head coach George Perles to the rival United States Football League only two weeks before the start of training camp. Perles is named head coach of the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars.

HOLES-IN-ONE

Jeffrey Crum of McDonald had a hole-in-one Monday at Lindenwood Golfr Club. Crum aced the 130-yard No. 8 hole on the Blue course by using an 8-iron. His playing partner was Dave Ettore.

• Lee Corazzi had a hole-in-one on Carmichaels Golf Club’s 101-yard, No. 11 hole on June 29. He used a pitching wedge and it was witnessed by Jimmy Lipniskis, Ryan Kerr, and Cody Haiden.

• Terry Semenoff had a hole-in-one on Carmichaels Golf Club’s 101-yard, No. 11 hole. He aced it Monday by using a wedge/pitching wedge. It was witnessed by Craig Haywood and Sonny Lesko.

DOUBLE EAGLE

Gage Clark of Rices Landing had a rare double eagle Sunday on the 487-yard par-5 No. 13 hole at Nemacolin Country Club. He holed it in two shots, a driver and 8-iron. Clark’s playing partners were David Odasso and Harry Pachesky. It was Clark’s first double eagle.
