Ringgold Ryan Pajak (center) is ahead of the herd during the Class AA boys' cross country race. The sophomore led from start to finish and won the WPIAL crown in 16:58.9.

Charlee Leach of Ringgold edges ahead of Eva Kulbago from Chartiers Valley near the finish line of the WPIAL Class AA girls' cross country championship race. Leach finished 12th overall with a 21:16.8 time while Kulbago took 13th in 21:17.6.

Viva Kreis of Belle Vernon crosses the finish in 10th place during the WPIAL Class AA girls' cross country championship action.

Peters Township's Brett Kroboth approaches the finish line during the Class AAA boys' race at the WPIAL cross country championships. Kroboth finished fourth overall with a time of 16:53.0. He also gained a berth in the PIAA finals to be held Nov. 6 in Hershey.

Kolby Kent of California crosses the finish line during the WPIAL Class A boys' cross country championship race. A senior, he clocked an 18:28.0 time and placed 12th overall. Kent also qualified for the PIAA championships to be held Nov. 6 in Hershey.
