Rick Puskar and boosters
<joycepush@gmail.com>
Hi Liz, The MVI just recently did a wonderful human interest story about my son, Rick Puskar, who is battling a rare form of blood cancer and amyloidosis. This past Sunday a caravan of 20 former basketball and football players from Waynesburg University (formerly W.College) paid Rick a surprise visit at his home. Rick has been a standout athlete in Fayette County and Waynesburg University,coached by Rudy Marisa, and now lives in Carroll Township. He would be an excellent profile in hope and has inspired a countless number of people through his struggles including the 20 guys from Waynesburg. I’m sure Rick would be willing to talk freely to one of your reporters and discuss what living through this, especially with covid, has been like. He literally has been living in a “bubble” for the past 2 years. Sincerely, Joyce Puskar

Booster shots – Got booster early september, got it at Span and Taylor pharmacy in Monongahela, they adminsitered it, Moderna vaccine I got, moderna was only approved for immunocomportized patients, they’ haven’t gotten Pfizer approval. I had in early september, pretty simple, had a little headache the next day, no other serious syptoms that happned, i’m imunocomproimsied, i had to skip my treatemnt of Darazalex, they give that to me once a month, had i had that treatment so close to the booster shot, it basically would have wiped it out and it would have been like I had no booster at all. I had to wait 4 weeks in order to get my next darazalex treament.
I was very relieved to get the booster shot, my oncologist, as soon as moderna was approved for immuno, he contaected me and said get it immedialtely, very happe to get it, being immunocomporimzed, if i were to get covid it could be catastrophic, now we’re seeing they’re saying these vaccines after 6 months, efficacy is reduced, booster gets you back up there to where you have a hight otellignece to get covid if you get it.
I have multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, and i am dealing with amyloidosis, affectst he organs, goest after your heart and kidnesy, two main ones, and i’m taking medication to slow it down, thye’ve been really happy with the progression i’ve had, taking oral chemo three times a month, slowed amyloidoises down a lot and stem cell transprneted, It definitely has changed a lot, used to go bike couple thousand miles a year, can’t do that, laura bought me an e bike, been a godsend, lately i had pneumonia, just got over was in hospital for nine days, couldn’t shake it, had to give me some antibiotics, Got out, trying to shake a cough, other than that hoepfully.
