1945 – The Chicago Cardinals snap the longest losing streak in NFL history at 29 games with a 16-7 victory over the Chicago Bears.
1960 – Trinity High School’s Moses Bailey scores four touchdowns as the Hillers defeat Vandergrift 25-14. Bailey scores on runs of 15, 45 and 65 yards and returns a kickoff 90 yards for Trinity’s first score.
1971 – Pittsburgh’s Nelson Briles throws a two-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles for a 4-0 victory that gives the Pirates a 3-2 edge in the World Series.
1976 – Bentworth High School hires Tom Teagarden, a former WPIAL and state champion at McGuffey, as the Bearcats’ wrestling coach.
1988 – J.B. Kulik throws for three touchdown passes as Washington rallies for a 19-10 win over previously undefeated Waynesburg.
1990 – Joe Montana passes for career highs of 476 yards and six touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers beat the Atlanta Falcons, 45-35
2005 – Ryan Geisel rushes for 121 and two touchdowns as Mapletown clinches at least a share of its first Tri-County South Conference title since 1988 with a 28-6 victory over Frazier.
2005 – Dante Valentino leads California’s comeback from a 22-point deficit as the Trojans beat West Greene 28-25 in overtime. Valentino scores the game-tying touchdown with 45 seconds left in regulation and throws an 11-yard pass to Stephen Chester to win for the winning score.
2011 – Waynesburg’s Nick Zupper rushes for 383 yards and scores four touchdowns as the Raiders defeat Yough, 42-23.
