Cole Jones threw a touchdown pass to Jace Bedillion on fourth-and-15 in overtime, then kicked the extra point to give Jefferson-Morgan a 27-26 victory over Jeannette in a non-conference game Friday night at Parker Field.

Jefferson-Morgan (2-1) led 20-14 in the third quarter before Jeannette (0-3) scored in the fourth quarter to tie game at 20-20, but the Jayhawks missed the extra point, which forced overtime.

Jeannette had the ball first in OT and scored a touchdown but had its extra-point kick blocked by Bedillion.

Jones had a 10-yard TD run in the second quarter and threw a 55-yard scoring pass to Ewing Jamison. Jones completed 13 of 24 passes for 175 yards.

Johnny Gilbert rushed for 124 yards on 25 carries and had a 10-yard TD scamper that opnd the scoring for the Rockets.

No details on the scoring plays by Jeannette were provided to the O-R.

Fort Cherry 48, Beth-Center 22

Fort Cherry scored 28 points in the second half to take a 48-22 victory over Beth-Center in a non-conference game.

Freshman quarterback Matt Seig accounted for five touchdowns, three rushing and two passing for the Rangers (2-1). He helped the Rangers accumulate 456 total yards.

Dom Revi threw for 137 and a touchdown for Beth-Center (1-2).

Fort Cherry built a 21-8 halftime lead on Seig’s arm and legs. The Fort Cherry quarterback ran for two 8-yards touchdowns and threw a 5-yard pass to Braydon Cook to make it 21-0.

But Beth-Center scored minutes before the half when Dom Revi hit Ethan Varesko with a 49-yard circus coach for a touchdown. Tyler Debnar caught the two-point conversion.

Beth Center got to within five, 21-16, when Jonas Sussman went over from 14 yards and Revi threw the two-point conversion pass to Tyler Debnar in the third.

Nashaun Sutton and Nate Heirendt then scored touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

South Fayette 20, Montour 19

Nate Deames scored on a 6-yard run with 34 seconds to play to give South Fayette a 20-19 victory over Montour in a non-conference game.

South Fayette moved to 2-1 on the season while Montour fell to 1-2.

Deames TD gave South Fayette a 20-13 lead but there was enough time for Montour to score a touchdown. South Fayette’s defense stopped the two-point conversion with 12 seconds to go.

South Fayette built a 13-0 lead at halftime.

Nico Lamonde pulled in a 49-yard touchdown from Dom Monz to make it 7-0.

Tyler Nicholson then booted field goals of 28 and 45 yards, the last one with 1:11 to go in the first half.

California 60, Waynesburg 7

Spencer Petrucci scored four touchdowns to help California defeat Waynesburg 60-7 in a non-conference game.

Petrucci caught 42-yard and 1-yards TD pass es from Jake Layhue. He also ran it in from 19 and 17 yards.

Zack Geletel scored on six- and 14-yard runs. Layhue opened the scoring with a 23-yard run.

California is now 3-0 while Waynesburg fell to 0-3.

Mapletown 49, Avella 0

Landan Stevenson rushed for 137 yards on only 7 carries and scored 4 touchdowns to lead Mapletown to a 49-0 win over Avella.

Stevenson now has 4,157 in his career. He averaged nearly 20 yards per carry against Avella. He scored on runs of 15, 51, 81, and 24 yards.

Brody Evans completed 12 of 18 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown to Brock Evans for the Maples (3-0). Cohen Stout scored from 7 yards.

It was Mapletown’s second win over Avella (0-3) in three weeks.

Mount Pleasant 50, McGuffey 28

Robbie Labuda ran for three touchdowns in the first half, Dante Giallonardo ran for a pair of scores in the second half and Mount Pleasant defeated visiting McGuffey 50-28.

It was the first loss of the season for McGuffey (2-1).

Mount Pleasant (2-1) scored 30 unanswered points after trailing 21-20 midway through the second quarter. The Vikings took the lead for good at 27-21 on a four-yard scoring jaunt by Labuda, his third of the game.

The teams had exchanged leads through the first half until that point. Labuda scored on runs of 13 and seven yards, and Cole Chatfield connected with Tyler Reese on a 63-yard TD pass for Mount Pleasant.

McGuffey, however, would answer each Mount Pleasant first-half score. Tristan McAdoo had a 40-yard scoring pass on a wide receiver screen from Phillip McCuen in the first half and Ethan Dietrich returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown that gave the Highlanders a 14-13 edge in the first quarter.

Kyle Brookman went 35 yards around right end for a touchdown in the second quarter that put McGuffey ahead 21-20, but the Highlanders would not score again until the fourth quarter.

A pair of Giallonardo 3-yard TD runs and a safety for intentional grounding in the end zone gave the Vikings a 43-21 lead.

McKeesport 14, Belle Vernon 6

Bobby Boyd scored two first-half touchdowns, one on a 54-yard interception return, and McKeesport defeated Belle Vernon 14-6 in a battle of former Big Seven Conference rivals.

Boyd had a six-yard TD run in the first quarter and put McKeesport (3-0) ahead 14-0 with his second-quarter interception runback.

Boyd rushed for a game-high 164 yards on 16 carries.

Belle Vernon (1-1) avoided the shutout when Braden Laux connected with Chase Ruokonen on a 93-yard touchdown pass that cut the McKeesport lead to 14-6 in the fourth quarter. Laux completed seven of 13 passes for 118 yards.

In other games

Serra Catholic dealt Washington its first loss of the season, 35-34, in a non-conference game played in McKeesport. Leechburg rolled to a 56-0 win over Bentworth. Yough blanked visiting Charleroi, 14-0. West Allegheny was a 49-7 winner over Ringgold at Joe Montana Stadium. Greensburg Central Catholic defeated West Greene in a high-scoring contest, 57-21. No game details were reported to the Observer-Reporter by press time Friday night.
