Washington Health System on Tuesday did not confirm or deny a report that it was in merger or partnership talks with a larger hospital network.

Instead, WHS Vice President of Strategy and Clinical Services Larry Pantuso said the health system is regularly in discussions with other organizations in an effort to better meet the needs of the community. 

“These conversations have resulted in WHS becoming part of twenty joint ventures and partnerships with other organizations in our region. We will continue to look for better and more efficient ways to provide high quality healthcare to our community,” Pantuso wrote in an email. 

Washington Health System, which began as a small hospital
