Waynesburg hires defensive coordinator

Waynesburg University head football coach Dr. Cornelius Coleman announced Monday the hiring of Dave Arnold to the Yellow Jackets’ staff. The 23-year coaching veteran, NCAA Division I all-conference honoree and NFL player will serve as Waynesburg’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Arnold comes to Waynesburg after four years at Bethany, where he served as the Bison’s defensive coordinator and secondary coach. Arnold also coached at Kentucky Wesleyan, Mercyhurst, Gannon and Central Connecticut State.

Arnold played college football at Michigan, and was part of two Big Ten Championship teams and was a two-time All-Big Ten selection. He is the Wolverine’s all-time leader in blocked punts.

After his standout collegiate career, Arnold was drafted in the fifth round of the 1989 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for both the Steelers and Houston Oilers. He also played in the CFL and WLAF.

Lions team physician Sean Lynch put his left hand on Walker’s right elbow to move him away from the staffers so he could check on Swift as well. Walker then shoved Lynch in the back.

Cleveland fired embattled defensive coordinator Joe Woods as his group’s communication issues and inability to stop the run had a major role in the Browns finishing 7-10 and missing the playoffs for the second straight season.
