Belly dancing, image-transfer workshops announced in Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Trustarts Education Workshop has announced two workshops in February.
On Feb. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m., “Sweetheart Shimmy: A Belly Dance Workshop” will be facilitated by Joanna Abel. Students can learn about belly dance as they can shake and shimmy and bring a valentine or a Galentine.
No prior dance experience required. The workshop is for adults.
On Feb. 11 from 3 to 6 p.m., “Fun with Fabric and Image Transfers!” will facilitated by Christina Muzzie. Participants use a printed image to design their own stuffy.
In the workshop, participants will explore a process to transfer images on fabric and embellish them with embroidery stitches to create a small stuffed keepsake. Images may include magazine photos of pop icons, an important historical figure that has a personal meaning or a whimsical imaginative animal created by the participant.
The workshop is for adults and students ages 12 and up.
Both workshops will take place at the Trust Arts Education Center, 807 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh.
