World War II

2 min read

The initial planning meeting for this group was held on July 6, 2012 with George Dvorznak as the group facilitator. Ed Nalitz and Joe Raffaele assisted with the planning.

Their first meeting was held on Aug. 15, 2012 and the topic discussed was “Italy’s Role in World War II.” Nine person attended the first meeting.

An early press release describes the group and their plans:

Our focus will be on sharing World War II knowledge accumulated over the years through personal experience, reading, historical programs, and other resources. During our monthly discussion series, we look forward to an exchange of ideas among the participants.  For the “Italy’s Role in World War II” session, we will speak about anything broadly related to the topic and welcome your personal collection of books on the subject, photographs of Italian weapons (no actual weapons) etc.

The group has been meeting the last Wednesday of the month for about an hour and a half since 2012 (other than the period during the pandemic when the library was closed or not offering in-person programming.) I am happy to report this group has been meeting for over 10 years and the library. The current group facilitator is Michael Phillips.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday in the Reading Room on the 2nd floor.
