Blair Zimmerman

Name: Blair Zimmerman
Occupation: Greene County commissioner, former mayor of Waynesburg
Residence: Waynesburg
Age: 69
I’m running to make the place I live and call home better for the future.
It’s not an easy task but I (we) as commissioners work at it daily. A lot of people don’t comprehend what it takes to work with the state and federal governments to advance projects and waiting on funding through those avenues. We have had good support at times from both, but it does take time for funding to get to reach us.
My qualifications speak for themselves. As mayor of Waynesburg for nearly 10 years and commissioner the same amount of time, no one else can come close to those qualifications. I have lobbied at the state and federal level and have contacts with both the state and federal staffers.
My main priorities haven’t changed. As a coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers of America for 40 years, I know each trainload of coal leaving Greene County means a smaller tax base each and every year. We have contacted many manufacturers and industry partners to try and bring those type of industries to increase our future tax base.
That is a daily priority with the board and our staff. I love the people and this place, and they can be sure that I will continue looking for that home run to better our county.
