Local greyhound places first in Pittsburg Pet Expo costume contest
Jason Dunkle of Washington and his Italian Greyhound, Greyson, 9, won first place in the costume contest in the medium dog category at the Pittsburgh Pet Expo on Sunday.
They were were dressed as Michael Myers and Mutt Myers for the costume contest, hosted by Val Porter of WDVE 102.5 FM.
“Dozens of people wanted to take pictures with us while we were there,” Dunkle said. “The costume was a hit! Many people in the crowd were screaming at the top of their lungs, because everyone wanted to see us win.”
According to its website, the three-day Pittsburgh Pet Expo is the largest pet expo in the country, featuring more than 300 exhibits.
The costume contest was hosted by Val Porter of 102.5 WDVE. The Pittsburgh Pet Expo is the largest pet expo in the U.S., with more than 250 vendors and 18,000 attendees.

I entered this contest two times in the past with Roxy (died 12/7/2021) and Greyson, but didn’t win. This was the contest that I had always wanted to win. This year, we finally did it! I couldn’t believe it! I’m so proud of Greyson! He continues to carry on Roxy’s legacy. The dog that won the large breed category was named Roxy, so, It was like a sign that my other dog, Roxy, was with us in spirit. I dedicate this win to her. Greyson won a huge gift basket with lots of treats, toys, and a gift card to Healthy Pet Products.
