Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields will likely miss at least one game because of a dislocated right thumb, coach Matt Eberflus said Monday.
Eberflus said it’s “doubtful” Fields plays this week when the Bears (1-5) host the Las Vegas Raiders. Rookie Tyson Bagent figures to start in his place.
n Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Derion Kendrick was arrested early Monday morning on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Los Angeles County jail inmate records indicate Kendrick was arrested after a traffic stop in Hollywood, several hours after the Rams’ victory over Arizona at SoFi Stadium. The second-year pro from Georgia played 68 snaps against the Cardinals and had two tackles.
TMZ reported that officers found a gun and marijuana in Kendrick’s car.
n Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts are still mulling their options to help the rookie quarterback recover from a right shoulder injury, including potentially season-ending surgery.
n The Las Vegas Raiders received encouraging news on Jimmy Garoppolo’s back injury. However coach Josh McDaniels said Monday he didn’t know if the quarterback would be healthy enough to play at Chicago on Sunday.
Boys soccer
Peters Township concluded its regular season with a 7-0 thumping of Brashear in non-section play Monday.
The playoff-bound Indians are 12-3-1 overall.
Jeven Kelly led the PT by scoring two goals. Blake Gabelhart, Alex Parise, Logan Sawich, Carter Helbig and Gavin Clutter had one goal each.
Girls soccer
Ella Miller’s goal in overtime, off an assist by Lake Litwinovich, gave Waynesburg a 1-0 victory over host South Allegheny in Class A Section 2.
The win gives Waynesburg an 8-4 record in section play and an 11-4 overall mark.
Peyton Cowell play in goal kept South Allegheny (6-6, 11-7) scoreless.
n Despite 10 saves by Belle Vernon goalkeeper Abby Showman, Elizabeth Forward was a 5-0 winner over the Leopards in Class 3A Section 2.
n Bentworth received goals from four players and cruised to a 4-0 victory over Beth-Center in Class A Section 2.
Emily Kisner, Megan Keturakis, Cassidy Sicchitano and Meredith Allender each scored a goal and keeper Nite Anderson kept Beth-Center scoreless.
Bentworth ends with a 5-6-1 record in section play. The Bearcats are 8-7-1 overall. Beth-Center is 1-11, 3-12.
n Blackhawk was a 4-1 winner over Trinity in Class 3A Section 4. Abby Higgins scored the Hillers’ goal.
n Cam Klein recorded a hat trick, Julia Spergel added a pair of goals, and Cailin Martin had a goal and an assist to lead Peters Township over Hempfield 10-0 Monday in Class 4A Section 2.
Jordan Klein, Atleigh Ciprich, Grace O’Korn, and Mia Helbig also scored for the Indians (11-1-2, 13-1-2). Molly Kubistek, Kaitlyn Strine, and Sara Schweiger combined for the shutout in net.
n McKenna DeUnger scored four goals, powering Charleroi to a 5-1 win over Monessen in Class A Section 2.
Bella Carroto had the other goal for the Cougars (10-1, 13-1). Sam Saylor had the goal for Monessen.
Men’s soccer
Waynesburg stepped outside of Presidents’ Athletic Conference play Monday for a road trip to Penn State Altoona. A goal in the 59th minute by Connor Jacobs gave the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 triumph over the Lions.
In auto racing
NASCAR on Monday rescinded Ryan Blaney’s disqualification at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when series officials found a problem with the template used during post-race inspection.
