Students at McMurray Elementary School in Peters Township School District arrived for the first day of classes on Wednesday. Teachers greeted students as they stepped off the school bus and entered the building for the start of the 2024-25 school year. Among the teachers greeting children was Spanish teacher Abby Schade, who high-fived and hugged students as they walked by. At Bower Hill Elementary School, kindergarten students listened attentively as teacher Jessica Franchi welcomed them to her classroom. Several school districts in Washington and Greene counties start classes this week, as summer comes to an unofficial end.
