It’s that time of year again, when Washington County residents help their neighbors in need.

2000 Turkeys is underway, and the annual fundraiser is once again partnering with Food Helpers, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and City Mission Boxes of Love to provide Thanksgiving dinners for struggling Washington County families so they can enjoy a holiday meal with their loved ones.

Thanks to the generous donations from Washington County residents, businesses and organizations, 2000 Turkeys has been able to help out families at Thanksgiving for about four decades.

And this year, the need continues.

All of the donations are used to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for the approximately 14,200 people who need help.

The 2000 Turkeys campaign revved into gear on Thursday, when longtime donors Blue Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter 16 and Washington Lodge 264 Free and Accepted Masons helped bolster the campaign with a $2,000 check.

If you would like to donate to the 2000 Turkeys campaign, please send checks, payable to “2000 Turkeys,” to 2000 Turkeys, P.O. Box 2000, Washington, PA 15301.
