For the second year, members of a Greene County non-profit visited with veterans in Waynesburg on Veterans Day to show their appreciation.

Twenty-one members of the Patriots’ Dream Riding Association (PDRA) dropped off donated items to veterans at four assisted living facilities as part of its “Stars and Stripes for Silver Threads” campaign drive.

Gift bags with both essential and comfort items were donated to 40 veterans at the Respi Center, Evergreen Assisted Living, WeCare at Rolling Meadows and Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

“These people are amazing individuals and were very grateful that we chose to spend our day with them,” said president Aaron Ketchem.

The veterans included four near or above the century mark, including a 102-year-old and 104-year-old, Ketchem said.

The group, which has been around for about 20 years, raises funds all year for the project.

Sponsors included Season’s Financial Advisors, First Federal of Greene County, Pecjak’s Sunoco in Waynesburg, and 7/11 in Waynesburg.
