UPMC Washington hosted more than 125 students from six local high schools last week for a Career Expo, a program designed to spark interest in health care professions.

Students from Avella, Bentworth, Canon‑McMillan, Fort Cherry, Western Area Career & Technology Center and Washington High School engaged in hands‑on demonstrations and interactive sessions led by experts from surgical services, nursing, radiology, social work, EMS, pharmacy and other clinical departments.

Activities allowed students to explore a range of health care roles, gain exposure to hospital environments, and connect with UPMC Washington staff.

“This event gives students a rare opportunity to see the breadth of careers available in health care and to imagine themselves in those roles,” said Rebecca Biddle, director, Volunteer Services. “We’re proud to help inspire and support the next generation of health care professionals.”

The expo is part of UPMC Washington’s ongoing commitment to expanding career exploration and workforce development opportunities for young people in the region.
