The northbound lanes of Interstate 79 reopened around 8:45 a.m. after being closed due to rocks spilling into the roadway from the hillside.

The state Department of Transportation said I-79 had been closed between Exit 43 (519 Houston/Eighty Four) and Exit 45 (Route 980/Canonsburg) in Washington County

According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, emergency crews were called at about 7:20 a.m. to mile marker 44 near the Canonsburg exit. The supervisor said multiple cars hit the rocks, but no injuries were reported.
