Greene commissioners hire manager for business incubator
The Greene County Board of Commissioners approved the hiring of a manager for its business incubator, which will be located in downtown Waynesburg.
At its Thursday morning meeting, commissioners unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Kerissa Kuis, a behavioral leadership scientist whose resume includes work as a business development consultant for Waynesburg University and an adjunct professor in the business and economics college at West Virginia University.
Kuis was hired several weeks after commissioners approved a two-year grant agreement with the Benedum Foundation to assist in operating the incubator. The $160,000 grant allowed Kuis to be hired and will help fund programming and equipment.
Jared Edgreen, chairman of the commissioners, said the incubator might open during the second week of November in the Silveus Building, and there would be a ribbon-cutting ceremony and other events surrounding it. About 22 office spaces will be available across three floors, and the building’s basement might be used as a maker space.
Edgreen explained that it will be a place for fledgling businesses to start and “it will also be for current business owners who would like to get to the next level. … We’re very excited about it.”
