Barn destroyed in Greene County fire

Livestock and farm equipment were lost when a barn fire caught fire in Greene County Friday morning. According to Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Rich Policz, crews were called at about 8:14 a.m. to 121 Muddy Hollow Road in Jackson Township. According to Policz, the barn was a total loss. It was not clear what animals were inside the barn and how many were killed. Center Township Fire Department responded to the fire. They were assisted by fire departments from Freeport, Richhill and Wayne townships. Firefighters were on the scene until about 10:30 a.m. Additional details were not immediately available.

Coroner seeks information on two people

The Washington County coroner’s office is seeking information on two people who died recently at UPMC Washington Hospital. Kimberly Coppola, who was born June 26, 1969, died on March 23. Her permanent home address was in McDonald, although she originally is from Texas and has family there. Mark Peiffer, who was born April 10, 1961, died March 31. His permanent address was in Waynesburg. Information should be given to the coroner’s office by calling 724-228-6785.
