The Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission has found that a former member of the Cecil Township Municipal Authority violated ethics laws when she billed the authority for accounting services that had not been approved. According to the state ethics panel, Patricia Mowry performed accounting services for the authority for a six-month period in 2021 despite no formal approval having been given by the authority’s board. Mowry then billed the authority for $5,362 for the unapproved work she did. The commission’s finding, which was issued this week, stated, “But for being a member of the board, Mowry would not have been in a position to perform and bill for the unapproved work.” ...
The South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors moved toward paring back the 2026 budget after a snafu earlier in the month prevented elected officials from adopting a revised spending plan. Supervisors voted 3-2 Tuesday evening to eliminate the position of administrative assistant and public safety specialist. Supervisors George Rowand, Jeff Bull and Zack Morgan voted in favor of cutting the position, while Bob Weber and Russ Grego voted against it. The job, held by Kelsey Shriner, was on the chopping block when supervisors reopened the 2026 budget at the start of the year. Greene Washington Regional Police Department arrested a woman accused of assaulting police officers Tuesday. Jewely Ann Strohecker, 20, of Buffalo Township, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor of terroristic threats. According to the criminal complaint, at about 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the Motel 6 at 1385 W. Chestnut St., Canton Township, after a woman reported a man was threatening her with a knife. Police located the man and confiscated a Taser in his possession.
