DEP and Conservation District visit West Pike Run Township

Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Washington County Conservation District visited Elm Road in West Pike Run Township on Monday, where residents have sounded alarms over the deteriorating condition of the township-maintained road. A DEP representative said the agency is collecting information and "trying to get an idea of what is going on" along the 1.5-mile long unpaved road following growing local outrage over severe road degradation that has occurred over the years. Person in critical condition after truck strikes Smith Township field party

Smith Township police are seeking information after a truck plowed into a crowd of people at a field party early Saturday, leaving two attendees with injuries and a third in critical condition, according to a social media post. Smith Township Police Department Detective Tyler Evans said the incident occurred around 2:22 a.m. in a "very rural" area of the township off Creek Road. A red Ford Ranger truck is alleged to have struck three people at the party, with the driver and victims having been identified, according to Evans.
