Fundraisers planned for Roscoe teen killed in dirt bike accident

Numerous fundraisers are planned for a California Area School District sophomore who was killed Friday night in an electric dirt bike accident. Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company has scheduled two community events to benefit the family of Ayden Stahl, 16, of Roscoe, who died after the electric dirt bike he was riding struck a fallen tree felled by high winds Friday on Highland Drive behind Adamson Stadium in California at about 8:30 p.m. Stahl’s death was ruled accidental by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office. South Strabane Township to hold public hearing on data center ordinance

Following months of public discussion, the South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors will soon be holding a public hearing on an ordinance regulating data centers. The hearing will take place at 6:30 p.m. March 31 at the South Strabane Township Fire Department building at 172 Oak Spring Road. Township officials have been working on drafting the ordinance since last fall, when real estate firm JLL began marketing a CNX Resources-owned, 1,400-acre tract of land off of Zediker Station Road as an ideal site for a data center. A blood drive provided by Vitalant will be held at Citizens Library from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Smith Township abandoned mine project receives grant

An abandoned mine land reclamation project in Smith Township has received a financial boost. A state grant of $193,493 was awarded to Natural Streams Foundation Inc. to support the initial planning work for the project. The funding will support engineering design and permitting work needed to begin removing more than 250,000 cubic yards of coal refuse from a nearly five-acre site in the township. Work includes preparing an engineering design plan and securing the appropriate permits for a future abandoned mine land reclamation project to remove the coal refuse.
