Regional congressional incumbents to have quiet primary season

Though some local state officeholders will be facing challenges from within their own party in the May 19 primary election, congressional incumbents will be able to enjoy a much quieter season. In the 14th Congressional District, Republican Guy Reschenthaler will face no GOP challenger for the seat he has held since 2019. Now the chief deputy whip for the majority-Republican House, Reschenthaler has easily won re-election in a heavily red district that includes all of Washington, Greene and Fayette counties, and portions of Somerset, Westmoreland and Indiana counties. The only Democratic candidate to file for the race is Alan Bradstock, a U.S. Army veteran and retired FBI agent. U.S. ...

Man accused of arranging Rostraver Township killing arraigned

A Philadelphia man accused of arranging another man’s death was arraigned Friday and sent to Westmoreland County jail without bond. Tuan Minh Dang, 47, is accused of hiring someone to kill Boyke Budiarachman in the parking lot of a Rostraver Township shopping plaza on Nov. 5, 2022, at the behest of Keven Van Lam. Authorities have said Lam, 58, of North Strabane Township, and Budiarachman, 49, of Rostraver, were former business associates whose relationship had soured. The alleged hitman, who has never been arrested, shot Budiarachman in the head, though Lam told police he’d only wanted Budiarachman beaten on the leg with a baseball bat. According to court documents, Lam gave ...
