The former director of a youth football league in the Pittsburgh area is accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands from the organization over the past several years. William Spencer of Canton Township was arrested Friday after the state Attorney General’s office said he funneled about $235,000 from the Western Pennsylvania Youth Football League into his bank account from 2020 until he resigned from his leadership position early last year. As Greene County begins preparing for next year’s presidential elections, it has new leadership in place in its elections office. At its meeting Thursday, the Greene County Board of Commissioners approved Josephine Weingardt as acting elections director and Dalton Zupper as acting elections manager. The board also approved a contract extension with Jessica Goughnour, a longtime elections worker in Westmoreland County who was brought on for clerical duties and to provide guidance ahead of last year’s November general election. Edward Charles Reid Jr., 61, of Charleroi, faces felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse material, intercepting communications, disclosing intercepted communications and misdemeanors of harassment and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image.
