Peters Township is receiving a state grant to replace the traffic signals at a busy intersection on Route 19. Almost $477,000 is coming the township’s way through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Green Light-Go Program to replace the signals at the intersection of Crosswinds Drive and Route 19. Following the deaths of two students by suicide in the 2025-26 school year, the South Fayette School District is joining a nationwide effort to boost student mental health. For the next three years, the district will be working with the Jed Foundation, a New York-based nonprofit organization, and AASA, the School Superintendents Association, on a mental health initiative that the district says will provide expert guidance and new enhancements to the district’s mental health systems. Local seniors will soon benefit from a comprehensively upgraded Generations Room in Cecil Township thanks to a recently announced state grant award. According to Cecil Township Supervisor Cindy Fisher, who announced the award during a Monday evening meeting, $71,500 of new funding will allow the Cecil/McDonald Senior Center housed within the Generations Room at the Cecil Township Municipal Building to undergo a suite of renovations this fall. These renovations include installing automatic doors, new flooring, storage space, modern kitchen appliances and interior painting.
