Cecil Township took another step closer to implementing a comprehensive solar power amendment to its local zoning ordinance during a Monday night hearing. The board of supervisors discussed details regarding how commercial and residential solar systems will be governed before setting a fourth public hearing on the matter ahead of an anticipated adoption vote in April. Peters Township considers zoning change to spur cell tower development

Peters Township council may soon be considering an ordinance that would open up public property in the municipality to the construction of cellphone towers. According to Township Manager Paul Lauer, cellphone coverage is spotty in certain parts of Peters. “One of the problems in Peters Township, there is inadequate cellphone coverage in a number of the neighborhoods. People literally have to go outside their house to use their cellphones,” Lauer said. Dunkard Township OKs solar farm application

The Dunkard Township supervisors unanimously approved the application for a solar farm in Dilliner at its meeting Monday. The 3.706-megawatt Aquatong Creek Solar Farm is planned to be located on nine acres of private property being leased off of Old Water Works Road. A project packet prepared by consultants LaBella Associates said the solar farm will consist of rows of fixed-tilt photovoltaic solar modules, a gravel access drive, underground utilities, an equipment pad, utility interconnection equipment and stormwater control features.
