Missing Fayette girl found safe in S.C.; boyfriend charged in disappearance

A Fayette County girl reported missing last week has been found in South Carolina. Emily Salonick, 17, was allegedly removed from the state by her boyfriend, Michael Hart, 20, who has been charged with interference of custody of children, Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said in a release. Salonick was reported missing when she disappeared on March 18 after being dropped off for her shift at McDonald’s in South Union Township, police said. Hart, of Daisytown, allegedly took her to South Carolina and placed her with his sister, Aubele said. Carmichaels club offering scholarship

The Carmichaels Women's Civic Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to members of the 2026 senior class at Carmichaels Area High School. Applicants must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and been accepted to a college or technical school. Students must write an essay, furnish a list of school and community activities, and provide a list of honors and awards. Applications are available in the high school guidance counselor's office. Completed applications must be returned to the office by 3 p.m. April 24.

PennDOT seeking feedback on winter services

The state Department of Transportation has asked for public input about the agency's response to winter weather. The 17-question online survey also asks respondents about their timeline expectations for safe and passable roadways, and how they rank snow-removal priorities. The survey is available through April 14 and takes about five minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous. Go to www.pa.gov/agencies/penndot to access the survey.

Fayette County store sells $3 million winning ticket

A winning scratch-off ticket worth $3 million was sold in Fayette County. According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, a $3 million Mega Moolah Multiplier was sold at Meet Mini Mart Inc., known as BB’s Market, 580 E. Main St., South Union Township. The Pennsylvania Lottery listed Avery Crenshaw as the winner of the prize. The store receives $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
