Ohio man charged in North Strabane crash

North Strabane police arrested a driver involved in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon. David Michael Orosz, 29, of Barnesville, Ohio, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault by vehicle, and misdemeanors of reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the criminal complaint, the accident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of McClelland Road and Village Drive. Washington man sentenced for selling drugs in West Virginia

A man from Washington was sentenced in federal court in West Virginia Thursday for selling methamphetamine. According to a press release from the U.S. attorney's office in the Northern District of West Virginia, James Thomas Howard was sentenced to 77 months in prison. Howard, 37, sold 32 grams of methamphetamine to someone in Marshall County, West Virginia. According to the release, he is also known as "Jim Tom" and has multiple prior drug convictions.

New Bentleyville budget includes tax jump

Bentleyville Council voted to reopen its 2026 budget, which calls for a one-mill tax increase. The vote was passed in a 5-1 vote at a special meeting Thursday. Councilwoman Kara Shaw-Dearth cast the negative vote. Councilman Joseph Patress was not in attendance. Mayor Adrian Gordon has 10 days to consider vetoing the new budget. The former director of a youth football league in the Pittsburgh area is accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands from the organization over the past several years. As Greene County begins preparing for next year’s presidential elections, it has new leadership in place in its elections office.
