Another Laurel Highlands teacher under investigation

A third Laurel Highlands High School teacher is being investigated for possible child abuse. The investigation was prompted by a tip that was submitted through ChildLine, said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kalee Barnhart. The teacher is the third at the school in recent months linked to suspected abuse. Two others were charged in March. Martin Gatti, a social studies teacher, was charged after he allegedly pressured a student to kiss him. Daniel Cervone, a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps teacher at the school, allegedly carried on an inappropriate relationship with a student over several months in 2019 and 2020, including an instance of sexual intercourse at the ...

Coroner seeks information

The Washington County coroner's office is seeking information on Steven Thomas Files, who was born July 14, 1962, and died April 19. According to the coroner's office, he was found in his hotel room at the Days Inn on West Chestnut Street in Washington. According to the hotel staff, Files has been living there for at least six months. The address on his license is a residence in Cranberry Township, and it appears he is originally from Ohio. Information on potential next of kin should be directed to the coroner's office at 724-228-6785.
