Canonsburg adopts drone program

Canonsburg residents may soon spot a public safety drone flying over their town, as borough council unanimously approved the creation of a Public Safety Drone Program during a Monday night meeting. The program will allow the borough to authorize fundraising efforts, accept donations for the program and establish operational policies in compliance with applicable laws and borough ordinances, according to the meeting’s agenda. Police chase involving stolen car ends in crash

An Allenport woman driving a stolen car led police on a chase in the Mon Valley that ended in a crash in Fallowfield Township. A Charleroi Regional police officer was posted in his police cruiser in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue in North Charleroi about 10 p.m. Saturday when he saw a hatchback car with its driver’s side window down and marijuana smoke emanating from the vehicle, according to court documents. A similar looking car had been reported stolen earlier in the day, and the police officer confirmed it was the same vehicle when checking its registration information while following close behind. Waynesburg man charged with aggravated assault

Police are seeking a Waynesburg man accused of injuring several people Sunday night after backing his car into a garage while allegedly drunk. Witnesses told Waynesburg police that James Roach, 35, had been asked to leave a gathering at 310 E. Lincoln St. before backing his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the garage shortly after 7 p.m. Stacey Lewis, who was standing near the garage entrance, was hit with the back of the vehicle near the fuel tank, the complaint said.
