Driver killed in Route 844 crash identified

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the driver killed in Thursday night’s crash on Route 844 in Hopewell Township. Albert Petrush, 77, of Avella, was driving west on the two-lane highway when he crossed the centerline near Linwood Drive and crashed into an eastbound vehicle shortly before midnight, according to the medical examiner and state police. Petrush may have suffered a heart-related medical emergency before the crash, according to the medical examiner, and his manner of death is listed as accidental. Petrush’s SUV struck a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man, whose name and condition have not been released. State police are investigating the crash.

Alabama man accused of pistol whipping woman, firing gun in Washington

An Alabama man is facing felony charges after Washington police said he pistol whipped a woman and then fired a gunshot into the ground next to her during an argument outside her city residence early Monday morning.
