‘No Kings’ protest draws hundreds to city of Washington

Washington City Council last week approved a grievance settlement with the International Association of Fire Fighters involving two of the city’s firefighters. In April, council approved the termination of two firefighters following an undisclosed incident and refused to reveal their identities. The Observer-Reporter filed a right-to-know request to obtain their names but was denied, as a grievance had been filed by the union representing the employees and the names would not be released until it was settled. Long Branch council is asking the state Department of Transportation for help to curb speeding at an intersection that has been the site of numerous traffic accidents. The motion to install rumble strips and signage at Dally and Elco Hill roads was approved by each of the four members of council in attendance at Thursday’s meeting. It also includes a caveat in the paperwork sent to PennDOT to absolve the borough of any liability.
