Charleroi Area Elementary Center named Blue Ribbon School

Charleroi Area Elementary Center is one of 13 schools across the state selected as a Pennsylvania Blue Ribbon School for closing the achievement gap and fostering excellence in student learning. “This is great for the entire community,” said Ed Zelich, Charleroi superintendent. “This goes beyond the school district. Charleroi Borough is now using the mass notification system Savvy Citizen for direct, real-time communication with residents. Savvy Citizen can be used for a number of things, including emergency alerts, updating citizens on events, helpful information, garbage delays, utility outages, community news and weather alerts. Residents and neighbors of the borough can choose to receive notifications with push alerts on their smart phones, or browse the app for a full listing of notifications, alerts and events.
