Washington County officials are appealing the decision by the state’s opioid settlement fund review committee to reject eight grant applications put forward by the county for various projects battling the drug epidemic in the region. The Dispute Resolution Committee overseeing the Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust fund will hold a public hearing at 12:15 p.m. March 13 to allow county officials to explain why the eight projects deemed “non-compliant” in December should be given a second look. A Canton Township man faces criminal charges after he was accused of stealing more than $14,000 from residents at an assisted care facility. Greene Washington Regional Police Department on Wednesday charged Quinn Christopher Wells with felonies of theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Wells, 40, was the house coordinator for a Pathways Residential Homes location in the township. According to the criminal complaint, between April 2024 and December 2025 he took support funds from two care-dependent residents. The Greene County commissioners approved a slew of tourism-related at their most recent meeting, including money for local events tied to America’s 250th anniversary and repairs to some county facilities. The $265,000 for the county’s Tourism Assets Improvement Project will be used to repair the roofs of the Greene County Fairgrounds arena barn and the Mon View Roller Rink in Greensboro. Funding came through a Commonwealth Financing Authority Local Share Account grant announced in December.
