The Cecil Township Board of Supervisors tabled a motion to award a contract for a comprehensive renovation to the Generations Room after the single submitted bid was out of budget and limited in scope. According to Supervisor Chairman Frank Egizio, the board opted to delay the bid award during a Tuesday night meeting in order to advertise the project and hopefully attract a wider range of bidders. Egizio said the board hoped the submitted bids would come in around $65,000, of which the township can use up to $71,500 in state grant funding that was awarded in August 2026. A Waynesburg woman is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing next week after being accused of severely assaulting her 18-month-old stepson while the child was visiting in May and failing to seek medical attention. Delaney Girvin, 24, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. The child’s grandmother noticed a contusion on his head and a limp when Girvin dropped him off after a four-hour visit on May 19, according to her criminal complaint. Washington City Mission’s 11th annual Mission Possible 5K Run/1 Mile Walk, presented by AccuTrex Products Inc., will be held at North Strabane Park at the Quail Acres Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8 a.m. The event benefits City Mission’s Crabtree Kovacicek Veterans House, which provides shelter and comprehensive services to homeless veterans.
