A Donegal Township man is accused of raping a woman inside her Chartiers Township home after helping her when she called him with car trouble last week. Chartiers Township police said the woman called 28-year-old Logan Matthew McDonough to help with her car and then invited him into her home for coffee shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday. While in the kitchen, McDonough allegedly forced himself on the woman despite her telling him she did consent to the sexual encounter, police said. A Westmoreland County man was charged Thursday with striking and killing a pedestrian on Interstate 70 in Canton Township in March, and accused of continuing to drive another 46 miles back to his house near Irwin without stopping or notifying authorities. State police said Anthony Joseph Pugliano was driving east on I-70 with three other people in his SUV when he struck 46-year-old Timothy Booker of Avella on the highway near the Chestnut Street interchange shortly before 4 a.m. March 8. A Monessen woman pleaded guilty in federal court last week in Pittsburgh to bank fraud for a nearly $1.9 million check-cashing scheme over more than a decade in North Strabane Township. Emily Roberts, 55, pleaded guilty to the scheme while providing cleaning services at a home, where she repeatedly stole checks from the victim’s checkbook, wrote the checks out to cash and forged a signature on the checks before depositing the money into her own personal bank account.
