Washington advances flagpole, tennis court projects

Washington City Council approved motions regarding grants that will finance two maintenance projects during its meeting last week. If awarded, the grants will resurface the 10 tennis and pickleball courts to modern playing standard and overhaul the frontage of Washington City Hall. Mother, 6-year-old girl injured in Route 18 crash in Chartiers Township

A mother and her 6-year-old daughter were injured Sunday night in a single-vehicle rollover on Route 18 in Chartiers Township. The woman was driving in the 1600 block of Henderson Avenue about 8:45 p.m. when she lost control of her car and struck a pole before rolling over, Chartiers Township police said. The 27-year-old Washington woman, who was not identified by police, was taken by ambulance to UPMC Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh, while the girl was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital.
