Rest stop scammers plead guilty in Westmoreland

A group of seven men who robbed motorists at rest stops in 2023 pleaded guilty Monday. According to a press release from state Attorney General Dave Sunday, the men pleaded guilty to five counts of third-degree felony robbery, and a Westmoreland County judge sentenced them each to at least three months in prison. Charged in the case were John Black, 41, Wendell Compton, 57, Robert Murphy, 73, Darrell Noel, 41, Robert Chandler, 47, Adam Smith, 41, and Danny Williams, 51. The men are all from Cincinnati, Ohio, except for Compton, who is from Knoxville, Tenn. Two more Charleroi parents charged for poor living conditions

Charleroi police charged two more parents who were living with their children in a building without running water or sewage. Lucner Joseph, 43, and Navilia Norazier, 40, were each charged last week with felonies of endangering the welfare of children. Joseph and Norazier were living at 515 McKean Ave. with their four children. It is the same building where 40-year-old Jackson Alexis and 27-year-old Roldy Noel were living with two children. Their children were allegedly using a bucket to go to the bathroom. A SWAT team was called to Peters Township Saturday night after a man was accused of threatening his neighbor with a shotgun. Gregory Steven Morris, 68, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, and misdemeanors of terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Morris' home at 105 Timber Oak Court at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday.
