Man sentenced for dumping waste tires at Ohiopyle

A Fayette County man serving a prison sentence for murdering his girlfriend in 2021 received an additional six- to 12-month prison sentence Thursday for dumping a large amount of waste tires at Ohiopyle State Park. Thomas L. Dean, 53, entered a fast-track guilty plea Thursday to misdemeanor violations of the Solid Waste Management Act, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced in a release. Dean is also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine to the Pennsylvania Solid Waste Abatement Fund. Boy taken to hospital after near-drowning incident in Nottingham Township

A 5-year-old boy was taken by a medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after nearly drowning in a backyard swimming pool in Nottingham Township Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Pine Nut Drive, according to a Washington County 911 dispatcher. The boy was pulled from the water about 12:40 p.m. by someone who was attending a party at the pool, according to Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Rocco Gagliardi. EMS personnel administered CPR to the boy before he was flown to the hospital. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
