PennWest University announces new provost, CFO

PennWest University has announced the appointment of a new provost and chief financial officer. Kristy Bishop has been appointed provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, serving as the university’s chief academic officer. Bishop is currently the vice president for institutional field relations for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Calfrac branch in Smithfield to close, cutting 75 jobs

The Fayette County branch of a Canadian oilfield services company will be closing later this year. The Smithfield facility of the Calgary, Alberta-based Calfrac Well Services employs 75 people, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification the company filed last week with the state Department of Labor. Layoffs will occur in phases, starting on July 20 and ending on Sept. 30, the notice said. The company did not return calls for comment.
