DONORA Assault alleged: Cody Dewayne Roach, 35, of Monessen, was charged by Donora police Wednesday with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. According to the criminal complaint, at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the 100 block of Ninth Street for a domestic incident. Roach is accused of punching his ex-girlfriend and throwing two knives at her 12-year-old son. District Judge Mark Wilson sent Roach to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. State police are handling an investigation into Donora's police department after a man died last week following an encounter with an officer. According to a report from the office of the Allegheny County Medical Examiner, 57-year-old John F. Miller died at 10:55 p.m. March 22 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Miller had been hospitalized several days prior after he had become unresponsive, "while in police custody," the report states. The South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors enacted an ordinance this week that will dissolve the parks and recreation commission. The supervisors voted 3-2 to do away with the commission at their meeting Tuesday. Supervisors Bob Weber and Russ Grego voted against it.
